"Matricahs in Motion" celebrates the unstoppable power of women working together. This piece honors the strength, resilience, and collective force that women embody when they unite. A force capable of moving mountains, building cities, and reshaping the world. It is a visual tribute to collaboration, empowerment, and the beauty of shared purpose.

“When North… Isn’t", is a textile collage that shows a herd of gazelles are met by a flock of swallows flying to the right, a counter-current in the sky. This piece speaks to the instinctual need to move—whether for survival, freedom, or hope—and the unpredictable directions that our journeys might take. It questions conventional orientations like “north,” reminding us that for many, direction is not about maps, but about forging new paths, new communities, and new definitions of home.

“Silk Road Stork", is a textile collage that traces the journey of textiles, techniques, and traditions across continents. An African wax stork carries a piece of block-printed Indian fabric, set against a backdrop of batik and ikat, with silk Suzani on the left, illustrating the flow of culture along the Silk Road. The work celebrates the exchange, adaptation, and interconnection of artistry as it moves through lands and generations.

"Keys to the Beamer" is a call to trust African women— their bodies, their policies, and their businesses. Inspired by the reggae refrain “give me the keys to the truck,” this work reclaims the metaphor of the keys as a symbol of power, agency, and mobility. It is an invitation to hand over control, to believe in women’s ability to drive change, and to recognize their rightful place at the wheel of their own futures.

“Woven Stories, Stitched Histories” is a patchwork of memory, journey, and transition. Composed of textiles gathered during my travels across Senegal, South Africa, Burkina Faso, and fabrics collected from designers in the United States-when I worked with designer fabrics for interiors. The work functions as a map of encounters and experiences. Each fragment carries the imprint of place and time, layered together to reflect both the continuity and shifts within my own life. Through sewing, I weave personal history with cultural memory, creating a fabric archive of movement, belonging, and transformation.

“Deals Inked in Dust", is a textile collage that exposes how hidden resource deals between multinational corporations and corrupt leaders eclipse communities’ voices, weaving a stark reminder of who profits and who is left behind.

“The Rise of Silk and Soil", is a textile collage that explores global land and resource dynamics, focusing on China’s and the U.S.’s influence in Africa. The U.S. is depicted with fabric turned inside out, a metaphor for shifting foreign policies, highlighting how geopolitics shape access to resources and the lives of local communities.

“Comfort in the Cradle", is a textile collage that examines the stark contrasts of wealth and exploitation. English toile fabric, with its idyllic pastoral scenes and associations with luxury, represents the comfort enjoyed by colonizers and expatriates, while imagery of rings and precious minerals highlights the rich resources extracted from African countries. The work juxtaposes these fabrics to reveal how the prosperity of a few is often built on the labor, land, and lives of others, inviting reflection on history, privilege, and inequality.

"Beads and Blankets for Blood in the City of Gold" confronts the violent history of exchange in Johannesburg, South Africa — a city built on gold, labor, and exploitation. This piece reflects on how seemingly cheap items like beads and textiles were once traded for land, lives, and gemstones. It invites viewers to reckon with the enduring legacy of extraction and inequality that still shapes the City of Gold today.

Calico Hearts" traces voyage of calico cloth from Great Britain to South Africa and Lesotho, echoing the story of Kenyan tartan. The cloth becomes a metaphorical heart, beating with blood and history as it carries the weight of trade, migration and connection across continents.
